Continuing our Showcase Spotlight Series this week is a group faculty members from a diverse range of departments on campus: Sarah Gott, Tracy Stout, and Timothy McHenry!
Sarah Gott, Course Materials Manager from the Bookstore, Tracy Stout, Professor in the Library, and Timothy McHenry, Associate Director of the Access Technology Center, will be joining us at the Showcase to present on enhancing student success through a collaborative approach involving the university Bookstore, Disability Resource Center, and Open Educational Resources (OER) initiatives. This presentation will demonstrate bookstore processes that impact affordability and access, how the Disability Resource Center ensures accessibility compliance and supports students with disabilities, and how faculty can find and adopt high-quality OER to enhance course materials and reduce costs. Attendees to this presentation will learn about multiple tools, programs, or strategies to increase affordability and student success, including specific insights into and benefits of the StreamlinED program and OER initiatives. This presentation will also address challenges faced by students with disabilities and discuss resources to enhance publishers’ understanding of accessibility compliance versus actual outcomes in digital learning platforms and eBooks. Attend this presentation to discover how our bookstore facilitates increased affordability and access, how the Disability Resource Center supports students and ensures compliance, and how you can integrate OER into your courses!
