The call for proposals for Teaching and Learning Grants is now open!

Each academic year, the FCTL offers funding opportunities to MSU faculty looking to undertake a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project. These projects investigate topics centered around the practice of teaching and the learning that occurs as a result of that teaching. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning projects can be specific to your area of interest or study in your profession – past grant recipients have done research on varied topics such as new educational technologies (3D printing in occupational therapy studies, GPS in archaeology studies, virtual reality in geology studies, etc.), assessment techniques specific to their specialties, the implementation of educational strategies in their courses, and more.

This year, the FCTL is offering a new grant alongside the previously offered FCTL Teaching and Learning Grant. This new grant—the FCTL Education Abroad Grant—is being offered in partnership with the Office of Education Abroad, and invites interested faculty to undertake an SoTL project specifically centered around the impact of study abroad learning environments on student learning outcomes. Faculty interested in pursuing a project focusing on this topic can submit a proposal for the FCTL Education Abroad Grant, while faculty interested in pursuing a project focusing on any other topic can submit a proposal for the FCTL Teaching and Learning Grant.
