Cayuga White Harvested Today July 16, 2012 by Marilyn OdnealThe Cayuga White grapes were harvested today in the Research Vineyard. This is the earliest I can remmeber harvesting wine grapes here at the station. Cayuga White grapes are the first wine grape variety to pick this year If berries are split from the recent rain, they are removed from the cluster so they do not rot Lugs are filled and place under the row Each yellow lug holds about 20 to 25 pounds of grapes Almost everyone was able to help with the harvest today. Final inspection of a cluster before it goes into the lug.
