Mealybug traps set out in vineyards

May 3, 2021 by Marilyn Odneal

The State Fruit Experiment Station is participating in a mealybug monitoring program for Missouri vineyards. Dr. Jacob Corcoran, Research Molecular Biologist USDA-ARS is running the program and has supplied us with two mealybug traps, sticky cards, and pheromone lures for male bugs. The program is part of research on mealybugs through the Control of Insects Research Unit in Columbia, Missouri. We placed the traps out today. A single trap will cover 30 acres. We change and send the sticky cards to Dr. Corcoran every 15 days. We change the pheromone lures every 30 days.

Pheromone trap #1 was placed in the Grape Genomics Vineyard.
