Faculty and students from UniCesumar, a private university in Maringá, Brazil visited the Fruit Station today. The students and faculty come to Missouri State for a short study away program in which they have classes and tour companies and operations across the entire state. Missouri State students and faculty typically travel to Brazil for a similar experience. This is a great learning opportunity for all involved. It has been great returning back to these type of educational programs after being unable to during the highly restrictive COVID times.
Dr. Chin-Feng Hwang, Department Head of Environmental Plant Science and Natural Resources welcomed the students. After introductions Jennifer gave a short presentation on The Fruit Experiment Station. Jeremy and Shelia provided the group the opportunity to taste some of the wines produced at the station and a tour of the winery and distillery. Randy, Tom, Shelia and Susanne then lead the group on a tour of the greenhouses and a wagon ride tour of the research fields including a stop at the small fruit planting, genomics vineyard and the high tunnel. The group wrapped up with a stop in Shepard Hall to visit the sales floor to purchase some wine and products to enjoy and some to take back home.
