🏥 FMLA Guidance for Employees Diagnosed with Cancer
If an employee is diagnosed with cancer, HR can assist with Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), even on an intermittent basis to receive treatment.
- FMLA provides job-protected leave for serious health conditions, including cancer treatment
- FMLA is appropriate even if the employee has accrued sick and vacation time
- HR should be notified if:
- Consecutive leave is expected for more than 3 days
- Intermittent leave is needed for ongoing treatment or health issues
For guidance and support with FMLA or leave planning, please reach out to:

Early notification to HR ensures compliance and allows employees to focus on recovery and treatment without administrative concerns.
