The Missouri State Fair is offering summer internships! There are three paid internships available in the marketing office, along with an internship working with the annual Sale of Champions event.
The ideal candidate is one who is passionate about creative communications, is detail-oriented, thrives under pressure and finds the opportunity in every challenge.
The internships in the marketing office include:
Responsibilities
- Media relations
- Special event planning
- Public relations activities (including extensive press release writing)
- Social media
- Communication with multiple publics, including telephone, e-mail, and direct mail
- Promotion materials design
- Distribution of promotional materials
- General office work
- Other duties as assigned
Pay and benefits
- Entry-level position at minimum wage
- Average of 32 hours a week and 40+ hours during the fair
- Free housing can be included, which is one bed and bath
- Limited meals may be provided during the fair
The Sale of Champions internship provided by the Youth in Agriculture committee includes:
Responsibilities
- Meet with each Grand and Reserve Grand Champion winners to interview and get essential information
- Write press releases
- Contact local media and schedule interviews of exhibitors
- Assist exhibitors with calls to hometown supporters
- Keep an accurate accounting of all hometown support pledged or paid
- Assist with Youth Dance
- Assist with coordinating program for the Sale of Champions
- Develop Sale of Champions program
- Assist in writing script for Auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies
- Work with Youth in Agriculture Committee
- Must be able to attend early summer committee meeting
- Other duties as assigned
Pay and Benefits
- $500.00 pay
- May qualify for full scholarship for the AFA convention
- Lodging in MSF youth dormitory is available
- Stipend for meals will be provided
