Summary: Using the Mercy Lean Management System, this role assists the Lean Transformation Specialist in improving quality, patient safety, decreasing waste, patient experience while eliminating waste from the processes. Assists in conducting and creating Value Stream transformations throughout the ministry utilizing Lean methodologies, tools and behaviors. Assists in follow up actions and implementation plans as well as lean project support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, although other duties may be assigned:
- Responsible for assisting during Value Stream mapping sessions
- Responsible for transcribing mapping sessions into electronic format
- Responsible for capturing all Rapid Improvement Event information and team ideas
- Responsible for assisting in data collection and recording
- Responsible for updating metrics in current value streams
- Responsible for fabrication and assisting in implementation of departmental “boards”
- Responsible for assisting with 6S activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position requires the individual to have effective communication and facilitation skills as well as to be proficient in Excel, Word and Microsoft Office suite. The position also requires the individual to be open to learning the history of lean/six sigma methodologies as well as the transformation of lean into the healthcare environment.
Education and Experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft office. Experience in EPIC and VISIO is highly valued, however, not mandatory.
