Supply Management Specialist – John Deere

Job Title: Supply Management Specialist

Hours per week: 16-20 during school year, can increase to 40 during summer months when no school is being taken

Department/Group: Supply Management

Hourly Pay: $12-$15 (dependent on progress in school. Pay increases as education advances) $16.50 for Master’s degree students $18.00 for PhD students

Position Type: Part-Time Student

This position will with work with Supply Management, Engineering, Production, and Warehouse to develop solutions for more seamlessly delivering our quality products to our customers. Job duties will include:

 Working with suppliers to develop packaging solutions and cost reduction to the business.

 Generating requests for quote, analyzing quotes, comparing various options, communicating with external suppliers and internal stakeholders, and implementing solutions.

 Developing sourcing strategy for packaging materials, including competitive quoting with external suppliers, consolidation of materials and standardization of labels and other printed materials.

 Improving part delivery methods and documentation. Recommending process changes and/or improvements to ensure higher safety, better quality, lower cost and faster delivery.

 Managing packaging projects associated with current production or new products. Communicating with Parts Distribution Center to understand packaging requirements.

Qualifications and education requirements: Student majoring in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or other relevant field. Shift, days, and working hours may be negotiated, as long as some work is performed on first shift.

Required knowledge/skills:

 Understanding of Order Fulfillment Process.

 Skill in interpersonal communications and problem solving.

 Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Desired knowledge/skills:

 Understanding of manufacturing processes and factory operations and logistics.

 Skill in negotiation and conflict resolution.

 SAP experience.

 Ability to travel occasionally (this cost would be covered by the company).
