Job Description:

KCP&L has an opportunity with its Supply Chain division located at the Corporate Headquarters in downtown Kansas City, MO. We are beginning a Supply Chain transformation effort as part of our upcoming merger-integration with Westar Energy. We will be focused on delivering strategic and financial value and being a sought-after business partner within our company operations. Participants will intern as a Materials Analyst or Procurement Specialist where they will gain a better understanding of our business while learning more about our people and culture. Internship assignments mirror the experience and responsibilities of Procurement/Supply Chain professionals. The experience is challenging and rewarding and will culminate with project presentations to our company officer team.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Work Schedule: Approximately 06/04/18 to 08/17/18

Location: Kansas City, MO

Posting Date: 01/31/18 to 02/16/18

Pay: $14 to $22 per hour ***pay will be dependent on number of credit hours completed by the intern’s start date***

Note: To be considered for an internship with KCP&L, you must be an actively enrolled student in an accredited degree program.

Job Description

As a Supply Chain summer intern, you will be asked to complete a variety of tasks and may work on several projects simultaneously with our Procurement or Materials Management areas. The position provides various supply chain analyses, internal/external market research, as well as data and process analysis with our Supply Chain teams. Participants will have opportunities to interact with employees at all levels of our organization.

Assignments and duties are driven by organizational and business needs. Assignments could include one or more projects within the following areas:

  • Buying and Expediting
  • Market Intelligence
  • Spend Analysis
  • Strategic Sourcing
  • Material Inventory Analysis
  • Procurement/Materials Business Process Reviews

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Students be a Business major, completed at least 2 years of college education and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (cumulative and major). Exceptions to GPA considered on a case-by-case basis. Supply Chain Management minor or emphasis preferred.

The successful candidate must possess strong analytical, problem solving, leadership, communication, and influencing skills. Must possess a career interest in procurement/ materials management/supply chain risk management, as well as have a desire to work as a team to achieve common goals in a dynamic corporate environment.
