Garden Segment is seeking a motivated Supply Chain Intern who will have a key role in participating in various activities, including operations, logistics, quality, finance, inventory management, customer service, and learning the business and industry, as well as taking on 2-3 special projects to then deliver those results and key learnings to upper management. The tasks and projects provided during this opportunity are designed to further develop core competencies and positive business experiences for the intern.
This position will offer onboarding and working with a highly experienced, tenured, and hardworking team; a role in interacting with key members of the numerous supply chain teams; a maximum of 40 hours per week; and, if a position is available, the opportunity for career advancement upon graduation.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Dive in and develop curiosity for the “why’s” in business
- Responsible for 2-3 assigned special projects, which will include gathering, compiling, researching, and determining the next steps for the business, based on those results
- Champion innovative ideas and solutions for continuous improvement within the teams and at the customer level
- Provide a weekly write-up of events, projects, and learnings, required at the end of each week
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
- Junior level student working on a BS in Supply Chain (The ideal candidate parameters do not rule out other students interested in an internship with Central Garden & Pet (CG&P)).
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated high proficiency in analytical and critical thinking using facts from data via Excel or other insight models
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and develop relationships across functional groups
- High level of energy and sense of urgency; self-starter; strong and effective multi-tasker
- Ability to travel between CG&P sales and corporate office locations within the Mid-West, South, and NE part of the United States, as well as ride along and attend sales calls with team leaders and customers
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
