Position Overview: Marketing Intern
This internship gives college students in marketing, communications, arts administration, or a related field a hands-on learning experience. The Marketing Intern actively promotes live performances, special events, and educational programs while learning how a professional arts organization engages audiences and shares its story.
You won’t just observe, you’ll help create, post, write, brainstorm, attend events, and see your work in action.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creative Content & Social Media Management
- Help plan and create social media content for Instagram, Facebook, and beyond.
- Write engaging captions, stories, and posts that bring opera to life for new audiences.
- Capture behind-the-scenes moments, rehearsals, and events (photo/video).
- Assist with short-form video and creative campaign ideas.
Marketing & Communications
- Draft marketing copy for emails, websites, programs, and promotional materials.
- Support audience engagement campaigns and ticket promotions.
- Learn how messaging shifts for different audiences and platforms.
Live Event Experience
- Assist with marketing efforts for productions, auditions, and special events
- Provide on-site support during select performances and events
- Help document events for future marketing and reporting
Professional Skills & Learning
- Participate in planning meetings and creative brainstorming sessions
- Learn basic marketing analytics and performance tracking
- Maintain content calendars and assist with campaign timelines
- Gain insight into nonprofit arts operations and arts administration
Abilities/ Skills Required
- Currently enrolled college student seeking internship credit
- Majoring in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, Theater, Music, or related field
- Strong writing skills and a creative voice
- Comfortable using social media and interested in digital trends
- Organized, curious, and willing to jump in and learn
- Interest in the performing arts is a plus—no opera experience required
Bonus Skills (Optional)
- Canva or graphic design experience
- Photography, videography, or video editing
- Experience with social scheduling or email platforms
