As many might be aware Truman State was hit by a major ransomware attach about a week ago. This cyberattack focused on gaining access to their network and then encrypting user data and asking for a ransom to decrypt it. Historically, even if the ransom is paid, the data is never recovered. The impact was huge as it appears they still used lots of local file servers for data storage.

This is just a reminder of why security is so important, although it sometimes might be a hassle. Using SharePoint and OneDrive helps defend against these kinds of attacks as Microsoft has built-in malware detection for these cloud-based storage areas.
