Public Affairs May Student Spotlight – Payton Branson

May 16, 2022 by Public Affairs

Senior – Marketing: Advertising & Promotion

Payton is making her Missouri Statement through her passionate involvement in student life. As early as her freshman year, Payton knew she wanted to be in a position to help students become more engaged on and off campus. She used her love of students and programming first as a Blair-Shannon Hall Council publicity chair, where she was responsible for promoting activities for students to get involved in. She later discovered Missouri State’s Residence Hall Association, and the National Affiliate of Colleges and University Residence Halls (NACURH) and the Midwest Affiliate of Colleges and University Residence Halls (MACURH), where she served as the National Communications Coordinator and Regional Director. In these capacities, she helped set policy for MACURH to make it more inclusive and accessible to new members.

Payton hopes to leave an encouraging legacy through her involvement in residence life, as she has enjoyed being a part of student development and growth throughout her time here at Missouri State, in national, regional, and local capacities. She is now enjoying her first year as a resident assistant, where she is able to engage directly with other students and help them become involved in various areas around campus. Payton’s welcoming presence to other students, and her avid willingness to help them grow proves that she has earned her place as this month’s Student Public Affairs Spotlight!
