Bunk Beds vs Loft Beds: What’s the Difference?

July 6, 2026 by Kallen A. Brown

The bed frames in our residence halls can either be bunked or lofted, but not both. Blair-Shannon, Freddy, Hammons, Hutchens, Scholars and Wells offer beds that can be separate or bunked on top of one another. If your bed does not have pegs built in to the frame, pegs can be borrowed from the front desk. Heitz, Woods and Kentwood offer beds that can be lofted to make more space under the bed. These beds can be raised up to 55 inches to accommodate your desk and chair underneath or lowered to 25 inches.
