Student, faculty, and staff action research group to host racial allyship conference in March during Women’s History Month

Unlikely Allies Conference 2022. Lecture and book signing. Join us for this provocative conversation about allyship on campus with Dr. Karen L. Dace! Friday, March 4, 2022, at seven pm om the Plaster Student Union Theatre. Sponsors: Division of Student Affairs, Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Dace is Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She is also an associate professor in Communication Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and has taught courses in and written about intercultural communication, race relations, the construction of gender, and the empowerment of women of Color. Dance holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Liberal Arts and Mass Communication, respectively, from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Ph.D. in communication studies from the University of Iowa. In 2012, she published an edited book, Women of Color and White Women in Conversation (Routledge), which brought together ten women of Color and ten white women to discuss the challenges of working across race in university settings
