Last Friday, I went to get Vietnamese food at Bambu, the Vietnamese restaurant in Springfield. It was my first time going to that restaurant. Before this, I have been to two Vietnamese restaurants and I have heard about Bambu several times. I really can’t tell the difference, but I know I really like it. Vietnamese food is pretty much all rice-based, which is really similar to my hometown Hunan province.
The first time I tried pho, which a kind of Vietnamese rice noodle. The taste was very light, which is what I like. Usually they have three choices: pork, chicken and beef.
My second favorite Vietnamese food would be spring rolls. It has vegetable and shrimps in it, so it has this balance between vegetable and protein. I really like the dipping source. I believe it is made of Peanut butter, Hoisin source and a little bit of garlic paste.
I don’t know if what I have tried here is Americanized just like American Chinese food. I guess I’m going to find out through this trip.

I found the taste in Bambu to be pretty authentic to actual Vietnamese food (perhaps a little more saltier though). Although, it definitely does not have as much choices on its menu compared to what we will see in Vietnam.
Next time you should try Bun Bo Hue if you like spicy noodle soup 🙂 Asia Express on Campbell sells it at a good price and it’s very good!
