Today we attended the Royal Haskingon Ho Chi Minh City office. Everyone was so lovely and informative. One of the firms slogans is “In everything, but hidden”, Engineers play huge role in daily life, lovely to hear a little about all that they do here in Vietnam. During our presetnation there was a notable reference to the roll of the political. Seemed more of a ever present fact than annoyance. Just the reality of doing business. It struck me that I am not sure it is entirely differrent in the states. Business has to navigate both regulation and political hurdles there to. Mrs Pham once mentioned that the challenge in doing business in this region is that the rules are ever chagning. After just completing a semester in US tax I wonder if it is that much differnet.
We also went to the America Center and did a presentation for the students who would like to study in america or are interested in american culture. I loved the idea behind this place. A place where young people can go and read about american culture and benefit from those interactions. After our presentation I shared a group with one of my fellow students from China, Marie. I really like that we have students in our traveling group that have experienced the challenges of studying in the US.
