After selecting this Study Away trip, I looked at the proposed itinerary and became increasingly excited for all the activities. The one that really caught my attention was the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. I decided to visit their website and get a better idea of what we would be doing there. I noticed that there were a couple different activities throughout the day; milk feeding, elephant bathing at the river, and fruit feeding. I noticed a picture of a little girl feeding the fruit to the elephants with the help of what looked like an orphanage worker. I’m hoping we are able to interact with the elephants in this way, but other than that the website describes mostly observation of the animals. Either way I think it is going to be an amazing experience to witness so many large animals up close and personal in such an authentic environment. This will definitely be a highlight of the trip for me.

Sarah,
I was looking online at the itinerary for the trip this morning and I am super stoked to get to experience all the new adventures overseas! I have started following the page for the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. I have also been talking to my family about the trip and they have been purchasing me Ivory Ella items because the money spent on those items go to benefit orphan elephants. Also, did you see that we have the option to go to a sea turtle rescue on the trip too?
