As a traveler I’ve always liked finding unique and special places where “Westerners” aren’t all gathered at. While browsing around online I stumbled across this place, Phu Quoc Island. Apparently its very close to Ho Chi Minh City, about an hour’s flight. Looking at the pictures it has a sleepy beach town feel with fishing being its primary industry. I doubt I’ll be able to visit this time around but I hope I will go someday!

Hi Andrew,
I, too, like to visit places that have a cultural feel rather than a tourist feel. Phu Quoc definitely looks like one of those places! Although I wasn’t able to take any personal excursions while in Europe, I would have liked to because I had read some cultural hotspots that weren’t visited by many tourists. I would have liked to have gone, but I was in high school and the trip didn’t allow for personal time. Although this may be a place that is too far from our destinations, I hope we can find some places like it to travel and get the whole experience.
Good post,
Elliot
