Today I was able to shadow an international student who is from France. We went to Walmart and walked around the store and pointed out items and packaging that was different. I thought it was very interesting that they don’t have a lot of pre-made meals in their grocer stores and individuals there are raised to look at the nutritional facts. I was never raised to look at the ingredients or the nutritional facts, but it seems very helpful. Their portions are a lot smaller and I have to agree that Americans eat too big of portions. American stores also have a lot more options considering flavors, in France they have one flavor of a drink or cereal and that’s it. Overall, I think the experience was eye-opening and has better prepared me for what to expect when looking for food options in Paris.
