We are currently sitting at a restaurant in Lao Cai awaiting the next train ride. Good news, we have an upgraded train so it should be more smooth than the first train. Our day started with sleeping in, which was refreshing and needed after our adventures yesterday. Most of the group got massages at a local parlor and that was also relaxing, but the techniques are different. We ate lunch at the same place as yesterday and it didn’t disappoint, we even had another menu! After some downtown we headed off to Taiphin Village, we visited a half torn down church and the local village people. Their marketing skills are not the best, the ladies selling souvenirs followed us the entire tour through the village. The car ride back to Lao Cai was long and very curvy through the mountain. We went to the bridge that was the border of China, China and Vietnam are separated by a river so we stayed on the Vietnam side. Now we are getting ready to take another long train ride to Hanoi.
