Today was the first full day in Hanoi and it started very early. We got off the train around 5:30 am, which wasn’t as good as sleep as the first train. First stop was Ho Chi Minh’s Palace, which was beautiful and we toured his cars and pond side home. After the palace we stopped by the One Pillar Pagoda, I made a wish at the top of the pagoda. The next stop was the first university in Vietnam where only the elite went to school. Fun fact: Hanoi celebrated their 1,000 years of being established in 2010. The last tour was the Hoa Lo Prison where John McCain was captured, it was very dark and sad. Lunch was a community style dinner and was very tasty, as usual. Today is the first day we had laundry! Yay! After a quick nap we were back on the bus to visit a lacquer shop, everything was handmade so I splurged a little. We continued to walk around the streets of Hanoi and visit some little shops, historical buildings, and a coffee shop. Overall dinner was delicious and I’m exhausted, but tomorrow is going to be very exciting!!
