We started the next morning by visiting site 1 of the Plain of Jars. While we got to see a lot more jars, there were also a lot of other interesting sites of the area. The hills were covered in craters from detonated bombs long ago. There was also a cave in the area we visited. While small, it was interesting as the cave was formerly used as a gravesite and to cremate the dead. A short hike up a nearby hill gave us a great view of the area and good picture opportunities. There was also an information center that gave us great information about not just the Plain of Jars, but the way the area was impacted by the war and the French colonization. After checking out of the hotel we flew out to Vientiane. The airport was the smallest I’ve ever seen, but it was pretty cool. The flight was a short half hour before we arrived to Vientiane. From the short time here, I love the feel of this city. I wish I could have explored it, but I was so tired I had to turn in early and get some sleep.
