On January 4th we get to spend all day at the Kuranda Rainforest. Kuranda is known as the village in the rainforest or the colorful village of Kuranda. Kuranda village has markets with all types of shops from clothing, jewelry, candy, and souvenirs, this will definitely be a great place to pick up local souvenirs to bring home to family and friends. Kuranda offers so many exciting attractions and activities that you can’t do just anywhere in the world. While we are there we get to ride the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway which glides above the rainforest canopy to see incredible views of the rainforest and waterfall. Once we reach the Edge lookout we get to stand 160 meters above the gorge on a transparent floor to look below us. The village has several restaurants with amazing looking food and coffee. One restaurant I want to check out is the Fruibies Organic Vegan Smoothie Bar and Cafe because they use 100% plant based and local foods to make smoothies. I’m so excited to go to the rainforest but I’m definitely nervous of seeing some jungle cats or spiders.

Britney, I’m so glad you posted about the Kuranda Rainforest. If it wasn’t for your post I honestly think I may have forgotten about it. I know a few of us planned on maybe zip-lining through the forest I was wondering if you were considering it as well? I’m guessing this is what the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is; I didn’t quite remember the name of the company that was in charge of something like this. You always find some of the best ways we can make memories as a group and I’m glad you post them to the blog for all of us to read. Lauren talked about biodiversity in one of her recent posts and I think it will be great to see this in the rainforest as well. I’m more than excited to be completely engulfed by nature, a little more tropical scenery will do my Midwest heart some good!
