I thought it was very interesting to learn about different communication styles, as high context depends mostly on non-verbal and low-context depends on verbal communication. I can see how the United States relies on verbal communication, just in my own jobs they are always saying if you need anything ask and have a very detailed on-boarding process. Now, in other countries I can just imagine how you don’t speak to the higher up and you stay quiet. It was almost a reality check to me when they were saying how relaxed the US is compared to other countries. I have always tried to be very polite and make things very professional, until I got to my internship and everyone was super casual. I felt more comfortable and productive at work and I think all companies should strive to have employees feel welcomed. I think the communication section of this chapter taught me more in depth about material I had little understanding about and I really enjoyed it.
