Spirited apple juice October 17, 2012 by Marilyn OdnealDr. Wilker is planning to add apple juice to distilled apple spirits to produce a type of apple liqueur this year. Apples that are sound but not suitable for fresh sale are sorted from the culls in the cooler. Josh (left) sorts out sound apples from unsound while Scott puts crushes apples before pressing. Apples are washed before they are crushed. Crushed apples before they go into the press. Juice is pressed out of crushed apples and collected in a bucket and put in nalgene tanks. After juice is extracted, the crushed de-juiced apples are discarded.
