We had around 30 people join us for the pruning workshop. The group discussed pruning tools and sanitation of the tools. Proper pruning cuts and the timing of those cuts were also discussed. Then the groups pruned grapes, new and old apple and peach trees. The apple trees are finally waking up for the season. With the cool spring that we have experienced the tree fruit seem to be developing about 2 weeks later than last year. This has been a benefit in that it has avoided some insect pests that are present and like the fresh green foliage, as they arrived and did not find tissue to chew on.
