A Visible, Proactive Safety Presence
Campus Safety professionals provide 24/7 coverage through foot, bike, and vehicle patrols. Their work emphasizes prevention, visibility, and positive engagement, helping identify concerns early and supporting the campus community every day.
Prepared and Ready to Respond
MSU maintains strong emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Campus partners regularly train and coordinate for a wide range of situations, including fire safety, severe weather, medical response, and crisis management.
Technology That Supports Safety
The University continues to invest in safety technology, including camera systems and the Bear Shield safety app. Parents are encouraged to remind students to download the app to communicate requests for Safe Walk services and quickly connect with Campus Safety when assistance is needed.
Student Responsibility Matters
Safety is a shared responsibility. Students are expected to follow university policies, register bicycles and scooters, use approved U-locks, stay aware of their surroundings, and report suspicious activity promptly. These actions play a key role in preventing incidents and keeping the campus safe.
A Partnership with Family Members
Family members help reinforce safe habits by encouraging communication, awareness, and use of available resources. When students understand expectations and know where to turn for help, they are better prepared to make sound decisions.
As the semester gets underway, Missouri State University remains committed to maintaining a safe, supportive campus for all Bear families.
