What is AWS?

AWS Stands for Amazon Web Services.

Amazon provides much more than just a shopping experience. They are also one of the worlds leading providers of cloud computing services. Companies like Netflix, Yelp, Expedia (based out of Springfield, MO), and Samsung take advantage of cloud services provided by Amazon.

Some popular services provided are:

  • Simple Storage Service (S3)
  • EC2 – Virtual machines & Docker Containers
  • Cloud Search

And there are many many more.

the aws-cli was created by Amazon as an interface to Amazon Web Services.

What is SAWS?

saws is free and open source software that makes the aws-cli easier to use. The CLI has thousands of commands, SAWS makes them easier to find, adds auto complete, contextual help, provides suggestions and much more.
