Hospitality professors recognized for paper

The FIFA World Cup isn’t just interesting to soccer fans.

Drs. Albert Barreda and Yoshimasa “Nancy” Kageyama were recently recognized for one of their collaborations.

“Evaluating the impact of mega-sporting events on hotel pricing strategies” was given the Outstanding Paper Award, Tourism Review, as part of the Emerald Literati Awards.  

The Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Tourism Review at Emerald Publishing sponsored the awards.  

This paper focused on how mega sporting events, like the FIFA World Cup, affect hotel pricing strategies and performance.

The Outstanding Paper Award was judged on several criteria:  

  • Internationality 
  • Diversity 
  • Support for scholarly research 
  • Encouragement of applied research 
  • Commitment to high quality scholarship 

This paper was a collaboration between Barreda, Kageyama and scholars from La Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Peru.
