Missouri State’s electronic arts program is highly competitive and three students are raising the bar with their senior project.
Sara Silkwood, video studies, Alex Scott, audio studies, and Logan Fritts, audio studies, have acquired the musical rights to songs from Dead Man’s Bones’ self-titled album to use in their short film, “Dead on Time.”
About the music
Although the band may not ring a bell, its famous members might: actor Ryan Gosling and actor/writer Zach Shields.
Silkwood first heard the album last summer and was inspired by its narrative qualities. And although the trio was working another short film for their senior project, Silkwood convinced them to take a chance on this one instead.
About the film
With the help of student screenwriter Jacob Martin, they developed a script to complement Dead Man’s Bones’ lyrics. The drama/thriller will follow Theo, a newly made ghost who comes back to save his wife from dark forces.

After several months in pre-production, they are now ready to begin filming. And like most EA students, the group will be raising money to complete the project, which will be presented in the spring electronic arts Student Showcase. To help Silkwood, Scott and Fritts come closer to joining the ranks of other award-winning EA projects, visit their Indiegogo page to donate.
