The Associated Writing Program recently selected a poem by one of Missouri State’s creative writing graduate students for its Intro Journals Project Award.
Dustin Macormic’s “God Reconsiders Egypt” will be published by the Mid-American Review at Bowling Green University. This accomplishment will introduce Macormic’s work to a national audience.
The goal of this literary competition is to discover and publish the best new works by students.
“It is quite an honor for Dustin, for our creative writing program, our department, our college and the university as a whole,” says Marcus Cafagna, Associate Professor of English.
Every creative writing program in the country participates in this competition each year and only a handful of student poems, stories and essays are selected and published.
Cafagna and Jane Hoogestraat, Professor of English, nominated Macormic’s poem for the competition.
The mission of the AWP is to foster literary talent and achievement, to advance the art of writing as essential to a good education, and to serve the makers, teachers, students, and readers of contemporary writing.
