Highlight your work in Public Affairs. Earn a certificate from the Peace Corps.

Missouri State University is continuing its official partnership with the Peace Corps to provide an opportunity for MSU students to highlight their work on campus and in the community.  The Peace Corps Prep Certificate program is housed in the Center for Community Engagement, and students interested in learning more can contact CCE Director, Alex Johnson, for more information.

Peace Corps Prep is available to any undergraduate at Missouri State, and students can join at any time.  This certificate program for undergraduates centers around one empowering question: How can you prepare yourself to be the best Peace Corps Volunteer you can be?

Going Global

As a Peace Corps Prep institution, Missouri State can suggest curriculum and provide guidance to students interested in serving internationally. Although completion of the program does not guarantee acceptance as a Peace Corps volunteer, the specialized curriculum and experience through Peace Corps Prep will greatly increase your chances.

The Peace Corps Prep Program integrates four key objectives into coursework and community engagement:

  • Training and experience in a work sector
  • Foreign language skills
  • Intercultural competence
  • Professional and leadership development

Peace Corps Prep at Missouri State connects students to Public Affairs

The Peace Corps Prep program is open at any time to students of any major.  Although completion of the program does not guarantee acceptance as a Peace Corps volunteer, the specialized curriculum and experience through Peace Corps Prep will greatly increase your chances. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to participate in the Missouri State University Peace Corps Prep program; however, you must have U.S. citizenship to serve in the Peace Corps.

The Peace Corps Prep program at Missouri State allows students to combine their experiences from the classroom, in the community, and as student leaders, to earn a certificate from the Peace Corps.  This program helps prepare students from international service after graduation, if they choose.

Bear Pantry continues to Support Bears in 2021-22

The Bear Pantry is dedicated to supporting the Missouri State University community with food, hygiene items, and connections to other resources.

  • Mondays, 10a..m.-3p.m.
  • Tuesdays, 10a.m.-3p.m.
  • Wednesdays, 12p.m.-5p.m.
  • Thursdays, 10a.m.-3p.m.

Who is eligible to shop at Bear Pantry?

All current Missouri State University faculty, staff, and students qualify to utilize the Bear Pantry.  To become a member, people are asked to fill out a quick and confidential form.  Sign up to be a 2021-22 member or renew your membership for this academic year

Donor spotlight: First and Calvary supports Bear Pantry with new fridge

This year, First and Calvary donated funds to support the Bear Pantry with a new refrigerator!

Thanks to this donation from the First and Calvary congregation, the Bear Pantry is able to support Missouri State students facing food insecurity with healthier options like fresh produce, milk, fruit, etc.  We are incredibly thankful to have neighbors who care about students in need.

 

 

Meet our new Bear Pantry Assistant, Kayla!

Meet Kayla our newest Bear Pantry Assistant!

Kayla helped haul more than 500 lbs of fresh produce for the Bear Pantry.

Kayla is from St. Louis, MO, and graduated from Lindbergh High School.  As a freshman, she already feels at home at Missouri State, and is involved in Delta Zeta Sorority.  She is majoring in Psychology and is interested in one day becoming a school psychologist.

At the Bear Pantry, Kayla helps take care of members, food, and supplies.  “The Bear Pantry is available to anyone.  You should not be afraid to reach out for help when needed.”
