The new Recreation Center will include an indoor jogging track, basketball courts, multipurpose court, a fitness center, rock climbing and bouldering walls, multipurpose court, a wellness center, a sauna, a spa, and a 7,000 sq. ft. recreational pool with lap lanes, a water current channel, seating with hydrotherapy backjets, and a zipline along with locker rooms, multipurposerooms, and lounge areas.
As the building is growing, the staff to operate it is getting established on campus. The newest members of the Campus Recreation fulltime staff started work this month, in temporary offices in PSU. New graduate assistants will begin next month. The department will also need to hire a lot of student employees – current estimates are for a staff of about 150 students when the building is fully operational. Campus Recreation is planning to host a job information fair in September, and hire students this fall who will begin training at the start of the spring semester.
