Get ready for Homecoming Week!

Today is the 3rd Annual Sustainability Conference & Exhibition in the PSU. The event features speakers, panels, and exhibits featuring sustainability initiatives, faculty research, student projects and community groups. For a full list of the days events click here.

We’ve got more deadlines for Campus Recreation activities this week too.

Intramural Tournaments
Racquetball – Deadline is this Friday, 10/21.
Table Tennis- Deadline is this Friday, 10/21.
Wellness Classes
Tai Chi and Hooping- Registration Deadline is TODAY!
Belly Dancing- Registration Deadline is TOMORROW, 10/20.
Zumba Fitness- Registration Deadline is this Friday, 10/21.
Power Yoga (Tuesday)- Registration Deadline is this Friday, 10/21.

On Thursday, October 20th come by the PSU Theater for The Big Gay Talent Show. From 7-9 PM see the variety of talents MSU students have as they put on a show of singing, dancing, comedy and more! Admission is free, but it’s asked that you bring a toiletry donation to benefit the AIDS Project of the Ozarks.

After the talent show test your luck at SAC After Hours Presents: Casino Night! From 9 PM until midnight play Black Jack, Texas Hold’em, and many more casino games in the PSU Food Court.
On Friday, October 21st Professor W.D. Blackmon will be reading selected chapters from his new book, Blood and Milk: A Novel in Stories at the Moon city Faculty Rotational Readding. The event is in the PSU Theater from 7 PM – 9 PM. Admission is free.
Friday night bowl for free at SAC Presents: Rock N Bowl. From 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM SAC offers free bowling, billiards, and games at the Level 1 Game Center in the PSU.
Compete in the 3rd Annual Justice Jeweler’s Diamond Dash this Saturday, October 22nd from 10 AM – 1 PM. The Diamond Dash is a high-tech free scavenger hunt for a $10,000 diamond ring in downtown Springfield. The event is sponsored by the Marketing Club. Sunday, October 23rd kicks off Homecoming Week! Check back for a full post on homecoming events later this week. In the mean time here’s a few of the first events:
Sunday
  • Homecoming Decorate Downtown Competition (11AM – 3PM) – Time to show a little community love for Missouri State by painting the windows of businesses in downtown Springfield full of Bear pride! Come show your support for all the teams competing to show off their best Missouri State Bear pride!
  • Homecoming Window Painting/Spirit Banner/Chalk-N-Rock Competitions (2PM – 6PM, North Mall) – The competition heats up on the North Mall with some creativity and music! Come show your support for all the teams competing to show off their best Missouri State Bear pride!

Monday

  • Homecoming Can We Build it Competition (1PM – 3PM, PSU North Patio) – Come show your support for all the teams competing to show off their best Missouri State Bear pride through their philotrophic efforts! All cans used in the competition will be donated the Ozarks Food Harvest!

Tuesday

  • Homecoming Mocktails Competition (11AM – 1PM, PSU North Patio) – Come taste the different concoctions the competing teams create! Come show your support for all the teams competing to show off their best Missouri State Bear pride!
  • Homecoming Rockstar: MSU (7PM – 10PM, Hammons Student Center) – Everyone loves to witness great singing talent! Get the American Idol show experience right here at Missouri State! Come show your support for all the teams competing to show off their best Missouri State Bear pride!

Sunday is also your last chance to catch this weeks SAC Film The Last Mountain in the PSU Theater at 9 PM. Also catch it tonight.

Monday, October 24th come by the PSU Ballroom for the Up ’til Dawn Kick Off Party. Register and learn about the new Up ’til Dawn program. The event lasts from 10 AM – 8 PM.

Monday night SAC Presents: Comedian Hal Sparks. The stand up comedian is perhaps best known for his work as a correspondent on VH1’s “I Love the…” series. The event is free in the PSU Theater at 7 PM.

Friday

  • Women’s volleyball vs Wichita State at 6 PM at Hammons Student Center
  • Men’s Soccer @ SMU at 7 PM

Saturday

  • Field Hockey @ Lindenwood at 1 PM
  • Football @ Western Illinois at 6 PM
  • Women’s Soccer vs. UNI at 7 PM at Plaster Sports Complex

Monday & Tuesday

  • Men’s Golf at SIUE Intercollegiate
