Gynecologic cancer is any cancer that starts in a woman’s reproductive organs. According to the American Cancer Society, 114,810 new cases diagnosed and approximately 34,020 deaths from gynecologic cancers in the U.S. in 2023. Risk increases with age. Major types are:

Routine wellness exams are fully covered by MSU medical plans at Magers or Mercy PPO providers.
Employees and dependents with the Critical Illness policy can receive a $100 wellness benefit for a covered screening. Plan pays full benefit election for invasive cancer diagnosis: $10,000 benefit under plan 1 or $20,000 under plan 2; dependents get 50%.
Employees with the Short-term Disability plan and are on a medical leave may claim their weekly benefit. This benefit doesn’t offset with vacation or sick leave.
Enrollment for Medical insurance, Short-term Disability, and Critical Illness Insurance is within 31 days of a qualifying event or during open enrollment (Nov 1 – Dec 1).
