Critical Illness Insurance
Critical illness insurance is a supplemental policy designed to ease the financial burden if you or a covered dependent is diagnosed with a covered illness. It provides a lump sum payment directly to you, which can be used for various expenses.
How It Works:
- Select a Benefit Amount: Choose a coverage amount that fits your needs.
- Claim Payment: If diagnosed with a covered critical illness, file a claim to receive a lump sum benefit.
- Utilize Funds: Use the payment for medical bills, travel, or daily expenses.
Plan Features:
- Coverage: Includes dependents and pays benefits regardless of other medical or disability coverage. See plan brochure for additional details, limitations and exclusions.
- Wellness Benefit: Both plans offer a $100 annual benefit for completing a covered wellness/preventive screening.
- Pre-existing Conditions: Coverage is guaranteed issue (no medical conditions) without coverage for pre-existing conditions.
- Benefit Amounts:
- Plan 1: Up to $10,000 for conditions such as heart attack, stroke, Major organ transplant, end stage renal failure, Invasive Cancer, Benign Brain Tumor, Coma, Complete blindness, complete loss of hearing, and paralysis, plus a $2,500 benefit for coronary artery bypass surgery, carcinoma in situ, Advanced Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
- Plan 2: Up to $20,000 for the same conditions as Plan 1, as well as a $5,000 benefit for coronary artery bypass surgery, carcinoma in situ, Advanced Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
- Covered spouses get 50% of the benefit amount.
Enrollment Information:
- Open Enrollment (Nov 1- Dec 1) Policy changes will take effect January 1, 2025.
