National Donate a Day’s Wages to Charity Day

May 14, 2025 by Deidre Mings

💚 May 14: Make Your Impact at Missouri State

Observed annually on May 14, Donate a Day’s Wages to Charity Day encourages people to give one day’s income to a cause that matters. It’s a simple, powerful way to show compassion and community spirit—and at Missouri State University, you have multiple ways to make that impact.

Whether you choose to give your time, resources, or vacation leave, every contribution helps lift someone up. Here’s how you can get involved:

💛 Make Your Time Matter: Donate Vacation Leave to the Shared Leave Pool

As the fiscal year wraps up on June 30, MSU invites employees to donate unused vacation leave to help a colleague in need.

What is the Shared Leave Pool?
It’s a voluntary program where employees can donate accrued vacation leave to a central pool. Those hours are then available to coworkers facing:

  • A serious personal or family medical condition
  • parental leave

Shared Leave helps provide financial support to fellow coworkers during leave—providing security, relief, and peace of mind.

⏳ Temporary Giving Increase — Through June 30

  • Donation cap temporarily raised from 48 to 64 hours
  • Already donated 48? You can give up to 16 additional hours
  • Every hour counts toward our 2,500-hour goal!
  • 📝 Employees must donate at least 8 hours to qualify for Shared Leave benefits in the future.
