Ease the Financial Burden of Serious Illness

October 8, 2025 by Deidre Mings

Would having all your medical expenses paid bring you peace of mind?

For many individuals and families facing severe medical conditions, the financial burden can be just as overwhelming as the diagnosis itself. Missouri State University is excited to introduce a new program designed to bring comfort, stability, and hope during these difficult times—the Samaritan Fund Program.

Samaritan Fund Program

💰 Financial Relief for Individuals with Severe Medical Conditions

The Samaritan Fund Program helps MSU employees and/or their covered dependents access financial assistance for high-cost medical treatments and out-of-pocket expenses. Through this initiative, participants may even qualify for full coverage of medical costs, allowing them to focus on healing instead of worrying about finances.

As one participant shared:

“You (Samaritan Fund) are our guardian angel… We are now not on edge, not stressed. Now we can focus on medical care and actually enjoy time with our daughter instead of stressing about the financial piece… Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.”

🌟 How It Works

  1. Submit a confidential Medical Insurance Release Form electronically.
  2. A Samaritan Fund Program Representative will contact you to explain the program, answer questions, and gather your information.
  3. If approved, you’ll receive a personalized Samaritan Fund offer outlining your coverage and available support.
  4. To accept, simply sign and return your offer letter.
  5. Once your account is set up, you’ll receive a debit card to use for approved medical expenses.
  6. Enjoy the peace of mind to heal—and share your experience to help others learn about the program.

💡 Key Features

  • Voluntary Participation: You choose whether to enroll.
  • Financial Assistance: Covers high out-of-pocket expenses for serious medical conditions.
  • Insurance Support: The program can help enroll you in an individual health plan and assist with insurance premiums and medical costs.
  • Personalized Eligibility: Representatives help identify the best plan for your needs and determine potential funding.
  • Confidential Process: All interactions are private and secure.
