Education and guidance for CURP, 403(b), and 457(b) participants at Missouri State
TIAA — administrator of the College and University Retirement Plan (CURP) and an approved investment provider for the University’s 403(b) retirement savings plan — is offering two educational webinars this March designed to help you prepare for and navigate retirement with confidence. These free educational webinars are open to everyone — you do not need a TIAA account to participate.
Missouri State also offers voluntary retirement savings through the 457(b) plan, and both 403(b) and 457(b) options are available to full- and part-time employees.

📅 Understanding Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)

If you’ve made pretax contributions to a retirement account, taxes are deferred until withdrawal — but beginning at age 73, the IRS requires distributions through Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).
This session will explain:
- When RMDs apply
- Exceptions to the general rules
- How to take your RMD
- How to avoid penalties
- Options for your distributed funds
A Reminder About Your MSU Retirement Options
- CURP faculty participants may elect to transfer to MOSERS after six years of service.
- 403(b) and 457(b) supplemental savings plans allow you to build additional retirement income beyond your primary plan.
- Both full- and part-time employees are eligible to participate in voluntary savings plans.
