Fee Waiver Deadline – May 7

May 4, 2026 by Deidre Mings

The deadline to submit a fee waiver for the Spring 2026 semester is May 7, 2026.

Full-time regular employees are eligible to enroll at Missouri State University for a total of 15 credit hours of college-level courses in an academic year (a 12-month period beginning with the fall semester) and have their required student fees paid by the university. The Credit Course Fee Waiver may also be transferred to eligible dependents, and up to 7.5 hours may be used toward tuition at Greenwood Laboratory School.

Important Timing Reminder

We strongly recommend submitting your fee waiver prior to the start of the semester or during the first week of classes. Fee waivers are typically applied at the end of the first week, and cannot be retroactively applied after a student has dropped a class. Submitting early helps ensure your enrollment and billing are processed correctly.

How to Submit a Fee Waiver

If you still need to submit a fee waiver, follow these steps:

  • Log in to the My Missouri State Portal
  • Click on the main menu
  • Search for “fee waiver benefit”
  • Select the Credit Fee Waiver Request link

If you have questions, please contact Denise Lofton in the Office of Human Resources at 417-836-5892.

Planning Ahead: Consider a 529 Education Savings Plan

If you or your family members are pursuing educational goals beyond what the fee waiver covers, you may want to explore a 529 college savings plan such as Missouri MOST 529 Plan.

529 plans offer:

  • Tax-advantaged savings for education expenses
  • Flexibility to use funds for tuition, fees, books, and certain living expenses
  • The ability to support dependents or even your own continuing education goals

While the fee waiver is a valuable benefit, pairing it with a long-term savings strategy can help cover additional costs and provide greater financial flexibility.
