Banner Outage – January 28

On Sunday, January 28, the following systems will be updated and therefore unavailable:

  • 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Admin Banner, BDM, SSB8, Self Service 9, our custom web applications, and all other systems reliant upon the database will not be available during this time.

There will be no impact to other systems such as: University networks, phone systems, main websites, Blackboard, Office 365, email services, video surveillance systems, electronic door access, and the application for admission.

To maintain the University’s technology infrastructure at the level required to ensure reliable and secure delivery of services and technologies, Information Services will be applying updates to the Banner environment on Sunday.

Complete: Upgrade Day – Wednesday, January 3, 2024

Complete: All services are now available.

Update (6:40 PM): Blackboard Learn and other applications that utilize the university’s legacy authentication system are now available. University VPN services remain unavailable.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, several university systems will be down for scheduled maintenance:

  • 12:01 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. – Internet for Springfield, West Plains and Mountain Grove campuses will be unavailable.
  • 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Blackboard Learn and other applications that utilize the university’s legacy authentication system may not be available.
  • 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Several core networks and systems will be upgraded.  Users of university services may notice intermittent outages during this time.

Brief Banner Outage – August 29 9PM – 10PM

From 9 PM to 10 PM the university’s administrative system, Banner, will be down for necessary system maintenance.

This will affect systems such as Student Registration, Student Dashboard, Employee Dashboard, Admin Banner, and many university web applications.

This outage will not affect the My Missouri State portal, Blackboard Learn, BearPass card use, or Office 365 email.

Resolved – Network Outage Affecting Some Downtown Buildings

Update: This outage is now resolved.

Network equipment outages are currently affecting certain downtown university buildings:

  • A switch outage in Park Central Office Building may result in some service outages within that building.
  • A switch outage in the Jim D. Morris Center is causing a wired and wireless network outage on the fourth and fifth floor of that building.

Networking staff are working to restore service as quickly as possible. This post will be updated as progress is made.

Resolved – Unexpected Network Outage

Beginning at about 10:00 this morning, the Missouri State networks, including the campus internet connection, experienced an unexpected outage related to an electrical issue. The campus internet connection was restored at about 10:30 AM.

The Networking and Telecommunications department is working to fully restore network services.

Update: Network services have been restored.
