Our #LeaderBear Spotlight this week is an alum of our Commerce Bank Emerging Leaders program and also happens to be Missouri State’s Student Body President, Brandon McCoy!
Brandon is an Economics major and is set to graduate May 2018. His top five strengths are: Restorative, Individualization, Belief, Achiever, Analytical
Brandon was a SOAR leader for 2 years where he got to welcome new students and get them excited for the beginning of their college career. He has also been the New Member Educator for Theta Chi Fraternity. This year he is serving as the Student Body President alongside Student Body Vice President Caitlin Schaefer. Fun fact, Brandon is also a board member for a local nonprofit working to bring bike share to Springfield.
Here’s what Brandon had to say about Leadership Programs
Leadership Development Programs helped me figure out my role on a team. Learning about my strengths and the strengths of others provided insight to the dynamics of working together and helped me be more effective when working with and leading teams.
Brandon also had advice to pass down to younger students
As a college student, you have access to not only your professors, but also many professionals and community members. Most people are more than willing to get lunch or coffee with a college student. Take advantage of that, and learn from people who are already doing the things that you want to do in your future.
