This week’s #LeaderBear is a passionate senior who has been involved as an Emerging Leader for 3 consecutive years! Brooke Schmelder is a Public Relations major looking to graduate this upcoming May. She was a participant during her sophomore year and moved up to the facilitator role for the past 2 years. Brooke has been in many active leadership roles on campus throughout her college career. She has studied in France with StudyAway programs, made the Dean’s List for 6 semesters, and a current public affairs intern for the American Red Cross. She is excited to see where her passions and degree will lead her after graduation!
When asked what about the Emerging Leaders program has impacted her most, her response included…
“The Emerging Leaders program truly shaped my college experience. As a participant, my facilitators inspired me to become a better leader, a better person and to make an impact on campus. I am now in my second year of facilitating the program and am honored to give back to the program that has done so much for me. It is an incredible experience to help lead and inspire future LeaderBears through facilitating the Emerging Leaders program.”
When asked what advice she would give to younger students, she said…
“Lead with your heart, always be yourself and get out of your comfort zone. Your time at MSU is what you make of it, it will fly by before you know it. Take what you learn here with you wherever you go because the opportunities are endless. Go Bears!”
Brooke has been such a dedicated team player as an Emerging Leaders facilitator. We are so lucky to have Brooke’s leadership and wisdom on our team this year. We are so excited to see where she goes after graduation!
