The Missouri State Ad Team joined finalists from Australia and Canada in Washington D.C. on Thursday to present their final One95 campaign for judging. After being selected as the only U.S. team to compete in the final three, they took home first place in the U.S. State Department’s Peer to Peer: Challenging Extremism program, an international competition aimed at countering the social media presence of violent extremists.
“It was a privilege to see the Ad Team in action,” said Missouri State President Clifton M. Smart III. “I could not agree more with the panel of judges, who praised the students’ presentation as truly outstanding and polished. It makes me proud to lead Missouri State to see this caliber of students representing us on the world stage.”
The team is made up of 15 students and led by marketing professor Dr. Melissa Burnett. Over the course of the spring semester, they developed and implemented One95, a digital, grassroots movement uniting the voices of every community to prevent violent extremism. The comprehensive strategic campaign includes education tools, social media platforms, and interactive components, all part of the One95 brand.
This marks the third consecutive year the Ad Team has won their competition. For more on the team’s work, visit www.one95.org.
