General Summary: A Merchandise Business Analyst researches and explores data-based information using data analysis tools. The goal of a Merchandise Business Analyst is to share meaningful insights from data that helps the management team make important operational decisions. Create reports and analysis as necessary to enhance the performance of Merchandise, Pricing and Marketing. Perform specialized product performance analyses to support maximizing sales, gross profit and inventory efficiencies. Strive to continually improve our reporting systems and analytical capabilities for both our internal and supplier uses. Perform Impact Analysis of all recommended changes and standards, and present and defend recommendations to mid-management and senior level management.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create new merchandise reports.
- Use existing reports to fulfill the needs of the merchandise department and other departments supported by the Merchandise Data Team.
- Provide insight into existing merchandise reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Learn and use all data sources used by the Merchandise Data Team including MicroStrategy, supplyLINE, and PROS to provide insights to the Merchandise Department and other supported departments.
- Assist the Merchandise Data Team with projects such as APT tests, business plans, marketing reports, etc.
- Run weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
Other Job Functions:
- Assist other members of the merchandise department as needed.
- Special projects as needed.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities Required:
- 2 year or 4 year degree.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient with Excel and Word.
- SQL experience a plus.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.

- Comfortable in a collaborative environment.
