Job Description: The Logistics Coordinator will provide excellent customer service coordination between Customer Service and Traffic, including order pricing and processing, traffic dispatching, and coordination of rail and truck fleet utilization.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with Logistics Analyst to ensure inventory levels are available to meet weekly shipments from various terminals. Provide weekly forecast of what approximate shipments will be from terminals.
  • Maintain freight pricing updates in adage and data base spreadsheet in system as required.
  • Dispatch and schedule shipments with various carriers at terminals/plants to insure timely delivery of orders to customers.
  • Monitor and create necessary reports to monitor customer rail shipments to maintain best usage of lease railcar fleet. Work with GE Solutions in adding or deleting reports for various customers.
  • Update Regional Sales Managers of any customer issues with carriers regarding deliveries or customer complaints. Provide information to Logistics Team Leader for him to work on CSO complaints.
  • Ensure that freight pricing is up to date through MLC’s ERP system
  • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer service and Logistics team to resolve quality, transportation, service issues, or customer complaints for assigned plants or terminals
  • Utilize data gathered from various reports (PowerBI or Excel) to provide insight on Mississippi Lime Company’s current carrier network to identify possible changes or improvements that need to be made with the rest of the logistics team
  • Other duties as directed by Logistics Manager, Logistics Team Leader, or Sales & Marketing that may be required.
  • Work with IS Dept. regarding any system issues with truck dispatch in report application.
  • Maintain proper operating authority for carriers and maintain updated insurance certificates for carriers that provide general liability, auto liability, cargo, etc.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Provide monthly report on carrier comparison from Weirton, Chester, and Kansas City comparing shipments and tons by location.
  • Provide quarterly report on carriers on time pick up, customer complaints, rejected trailers, late deliveries, spills, etc.
  • Trace rail, barge, and truck shipments as requested or required and provide necessary information to personnel.
  • Rotating on-call phone approximately 30 days each quarter.
  • Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ direct experience in logistics preferred. Additional experience in Customer Service a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent computer skills and the ability to perform general office tasks required; good grammar and communication skills with an attention to detail is also required.
  • Abilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and resolve customer/transportation issues as needed.
  • Behaviors: Candidate must be able to see projects through with little supervision.
