Funding delays: Be prepared for delays in grant funding, as well as in the review and announcement of proposals.

Backlog of requests: Agencies are working to process a backlog of grant applications, peer reviews, and other administrative requests.

Budgets and awards: Requests for no-cost extensions or re-budgeting may be delayed.

Stay informed: Keep monitoring agency websites and communications for updates on new deadlines and rescheduled review meetings.

ORA is glad to answer any questions we can as we all wait for agencies to catch up with the backlog.

NIH R15 Webinar-CANCELLED

January 13, 2025 by Shannon Ailor

***At the present time, all NIH-sponsored meetings are cancelled***

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) R15 program is aimed at enhancing research capacity at institutions that traditionally receive limited NIH support. These grants not only provide critical funding for impactful research but also create opportunities for students to engage in meaningful biomedical research activities. By doing so, they contribute to the growth of research infrastructure and talent at participating institutions.

To help researchers and institutions navigate the R15 application process, NIH is hosting a complementary webinar on January 30, 2025. This session will cover:

  • An overview of the two NIH R15 programs
      • AREA: Academic Research Enhancement Award for Undergraduate-Focused Institutions
      • REAP: Research Enhancement Award Program for Health Professional and Graduate Schools
  • Detailed guidance on eligibility requirements
  • Step-by-step instructions on the application process
  • Insights into review criteria

Participants will also have the chance to engage in a live Q&A session with a panel of NIH experts.
