Stephen C. Berkwitz, Department Head of Religious Studies, recently presented two talks at the University of Edinburgh Divinity School. He gave a university lecture on Buddhism in modernity and then, on the following day, he gave a keynote lecture on vernacular religious culture in Sri Lanka at the 40th Annual Spalding Symposium on Indian Religions. The Spalding Symposium, which lasted three days, brought together scholars and a handful of graduate students from around the United Kingdom to present and discuss research being done on various aspects of Indian religions.
